So Much Going On!

Hey guys and dolls,

Lots going on here at CCB with the youth group. Where to start?

How about with Meta?

Metamorphosis retreat in Panama City is $275.00 if the $100 deposit is received by May 6 and if you participate in the fundraiser, which is selling Express cards.

After May 6, the price goes up to $305.

If you skip the fundraiser, add $50 to the total cost.

If you have two students going from the same family, you get a 30% discount.

Also, I (Malinda) plan on driving my car and returning Sunday evening so I can be back at work on Monday. If you need to be back by then, then you can hitch a ride.

Meta is going to be a blast. A time to hang out with friends, make new ones, and most important, draw closer to the Lord.

Oh by the way, the dates are July 17-20; that's a Friday-Monday.

What next?

Oh yeah! How about we're going to FEED YOU GUYS DINNER on Wednesday! Woohoo! What growing teenager doesn't love free hot dogs and hamburgers? So get there at 6:30 so you can have plenty o' time to stuff your face. And most importantly, remember that this is an awesome oppurtunity to INVITE YOUR FRIENDS! I'm issueing a challenge right now that every student brings at least one friend. Are you up to it? I dare you. Shout out to Mrs. Linda for getting this together for us.

One more thing:

Hot wings and a movie at mine and Zack's house on Sunday night! Move is TBD, and all you need to bring is $2 for dinner and the good times that will ensue are free of charge. Not sure exactly what time, but I guess around 6:30ish. Here's the directions:

Turn Right out of Cahaba Bend and follow Morgan Road about 7 miles, almost all the way to I-459. At the big intersection where the CVS and Waffle House are, turn Right again; you'll be on Parkwood Road. Go about 1/2 a mile and turn Right again into the Southwood Parc neighboorhood. Take the 3rd Left on Southwood View, and we're almost at the end on the Right side. 2764 Southwood View is our address.

Can't wait to have you all over!

Have a great week. Study hard and make lots of As.

TWILIGHT VIEWING PARTY!!

Girls, you think he's dreamy. Guys, you're a little jealous even if you don't admit it. You covet that cropped gray pea coat and those Wayfarer sunglasses. Volvos have never been so cool. You cancelled your beach trip to keep that pasty white skin. You stopped washing your hair to get it to primo "Edwardness."  Twilight-mania has come to Blue Ray DVD.

Our ol' buddy John Mason-Smith is having everyone over to his house to watch Twilight. He says: Boys and Scoffers are encouraged to attend. See what all the fuss was about! 60" HDTV/blu ray player! Food provided! Just show up.

Costumes are highly encouraged! Rachel, no daggers.

Party starts this Friday, March 27, at 6:30, and ends at 9 or whenever we can peel Abigail and Haley W. off the television set. You can follow this link to Facebook to mark your official rsvp: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=62437556255&ref=share

Mapquest these to get there: 2210 Amberley Woods Terrace, Helena.

Laser tag! Sonic! Party! Fun!

Spring Break is over...boo! But hey, at least you get one...this past week has been one of the busiest of my career; nice blunt reminder that I'm old and only get two weeks of vacation for the entire year.

Anyway, to send off Spring Break 2009 in style, the CCB Youth Group is going to Game Zone for laser tag, then Sonic for greasy food, tomorrow night. That's Sunday, March 22. Here are all the details:

Arrive at Game Stop, on Hwy 31 in Pelham, at 5pm tomorrow evening. We'll play 2 games, so the cost is $12 bucks. Then we'll head next door to Sonic (the restaurant, not the hedgehog) for some good ol' fashioned fattening fast food. You'll need to bring extra money for food, and also if you plan on playing any other games at Game Zone (I'm assuming they have arcade games and the like).

We are not providing transportation, but if you really want to go and just can't seem to find a ride, please just let us know! You can call me at 205/527-7388 or email me at malindaboody@yahoo.com and we'll figure something out.

Please bring your friends! This is definitely a "more the merrier" event!

Also, on Wednesday night, April 8, we will not have Youth Group as usual. That night we will have a meeting for your parents so we can catch them up to speed on what's going on with the Group. David has some big important things he needs to talk about, so please please please don't forget to tell your parents to be there! It's at 7pm, and they can attend the Labyrinth either before or after the meeting. ALSO! This is NOT JUST FOR CAHABA BEND PARENTS!!! Any parents whose kids have, had, or will attend CCB Youth are encouraged and more than welcome to attend.

Youth Group for 02/25

Hellooooooo Everybody! Hope your Tuesday is going just great. School's out and you're probably sitting at home watching Full House reruns. I know that what I wish I was doing!

Ok here's some updates for you:

First, church tomorrow night will be at 7:00 pm in the worship center. We will be taking part in the church-wide Lent service. It will be a wonderful and meaningful time of reverence and fellowship.

Second, the 30 Hour Famine is here!! Be at the church at 9:00 pm ready to go. Actually, please be ready to sleep (this will NOT be a stay-up-all-night event!). We will provide all the juice and stuff for you, but no eating! All you need to bring is something to sleep on, your Bible, and a good attitude. And girls, please don't wear short little shorts or something similar to sleep in. We ask that you use discretion, at this is just as much a church service as it is a fun time to be together. I'm not sure of all the details, but we will have some fun activities for you, and my cute husband will be leading worship for us.  The event will end at 1:00 pm on Saturday.

All that said, this will be a really fun week at Church at Cahaba Bend! Please let David or myself know if you or your parents have any questions. You can email me personally at mnichols@hoffmanmedia.com.

See you then!!

Youth Group for 02/04

Hey Guys & Dolls,

I hope you all had fun during Ben's Experiencing Worship series last week. I know that I learned a lot last week and I'm really looking forward to next week's "Elements, Part II." Personally, my favorite part was the "formula" for prayer. I tend to get a little A.D.D. when I'm praying, so this has been very handy for me. To recap:

A: Adoration - What is "God" to you for this prayer? Is He Healer? Creator? Friend? (Obviously He's all of these things, but if you're praying for a friend who is sick, then He's Healer. Yeah ok, you get it.)

C: Confession - This explains itself, I think!

T: Thanksgiving - Praise God and thank Him for being so awesome in every way.

S: Supplication - Lastly, pray for the "outside in." Pray for the world, for our country and its leaders, your friends and family, and yourself last.

Be sure to check out Ben's worship blog by clicking on the "Thoughts on Worship" tab over to the right of this page if you have a few minutes.

So that was last week. And this week is Part 2 of Justin Lookadoo's Dateable series. Wow I wish I had this series when I was y'alls age. And a special treat, our good friend John Mason-Smith will be teaching this week! Take this "Are You Dateable?" quiz to get your thinkin' caps on: http://www.rudateable.com/cool_quizzes.php

With that, I leave you for this week. Have a great week in school, and I'll see you on Wednesday at 7:01. Bring a friend!!!!
